Solution for PowerPoint 2007 Chinese Input Problem

I ran into a weird problem today in my office computer. I am writing a Chinese article for a student affairs conference in Taiwan. I use Microsoft Word 2007 on Windows XP SP3 to type my manuscript without any problems. However, when I tried to create a PowerPoint presentation I found that I cannot type Chinese character into the Microsoft PowerPoint 2007.

I searched the Internet for the solution and most people said that you need to turn on "Extend support of advanced text services to all programs" in the Regional and Language Options. The problem is I already turned it on and it didn't solve my problem.

I search more without success until I ran into a Chinese web site and found the solution. Here is the solution that worked for me.

Open a text editor and copy the following text into the editor:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CTF\TIP\{5621CC0F-3ABF-428b-BDF0-D8544FD3ED75}\LanguageProfile\0x00000804\{F3BA9077-6C7E-11D4-97FA-0080C882687E}]

"Enable"=dword:00000001

Save the file as PP_Chinese.reg

Go to My Computer, double click PP_Chinese.reg and click ok. Done! You can type Chinese into PowerPoint 2007 now.
